Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The minutes of the meeting held on 10 June 2025 were RESOLVED as a true record and signed.
Matters Arising
The village fete on the Green on 21 June had been a great success, raising £680 for village hall funds; the Council recorded its thanks to the Fete Committee and all volunteers. The roof repair works at the village hall had been completed by Netherfield Building Services and signed off; the Hall Committee confirmed no further leaks had appeared during recent heavy rain. Vegetation at the Mill Lane junction had been cut back by the County's contractor.
Co-option to Fill Casual Vacancy
The Clerk reported that one application had been received, from Mr Kevin Ashworth, a resident of The Green for the past twelve years and a retired chartered surveyor. Mr Ashworth addressed the Council briefly on his interest in local footpaths and planning matters. It was RESOLVED unanimously to co-opt Mr Ashworth to fill the casual vacancy. He signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office and joined the meeting as a councillor with immediate effect. Members welcomed him to the Council and agreed he would join the footpaths working group alongside Cllr Iqbal.
Planning
Application 25/01033/FUL – erection of an agricultural storage building, Mill Farm. Members raised no objection in principle but were concerned about disturbance from construction traffic. It was RESOLVED that the Council raise no objection, subject to a request that a condition be attached restricting construction working hours to protect residential amenity.
Community Speedwatch
Two sessions had been held on High Street since training; six vehicles exceeding the speed limit had been recorded and referred to the police for warning letters to be issued to registered keepers. It was agreed sessions would continue on a monthly basis.
Bus Shelter
Averbury District Council had confirmed the vandalised glass panel at the High Street bus shelter had been repaired.
Broadband
A resident had queried the timetable for full-fibre broadband rollout in the parish. The Clerk agreed to make enquiries of the relevant provider and of Mereshire County Council's digital infrastructure team and report back.
Dog Fouling
Further to the May meeting, an additional dog waste bin had been installed near the playground gate and new signage had been ordered.
