Welcome and Apologies for Absence

Apologies were received and accepted from Cllr Yeoman.

Declarations of Interest

None.

Public Participation

A resident thanked the Council for the recent installation of the defibrillator. Another resident raised concern about overgrown vegetation at the Mill Lane/High Street junction obscuring visibility for turning traffic.

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the Annual Meeting held on 13 May 2025 were RESOLVED as a true record and signed.

Casual Vacancy

The Clerk confirmed that Cllr Duckworth's resignation had taken effect and that the statutory notice period for an election had expired without ten electors requesting a poll. The Council was therefore able to proceed to fill the vacancy by co-option; the Clerk had advertised the vacancy and would report any applications to the July meeting.

Matters Arising

Averbury District Council had confirmed an award of £2,000 from the Community Improvement Fund towards the village hall roof repair. Combined with the Council's own contribution, works with Netherfield Building Services were scheduled for the week commencing 30 June. The defibrillator had been installed on the external wall of the village hall and registered on the national defibrillator network; a training session on 4 June had been attended by nine residents and councillors. The Council recorded its thanks to Mrs Ostrowski for her work in bringing the project to fruition.

Footpaths

Footpath FP12 to Netherfield had been cleared by the County's contractor; the Council recorded its thanks.

Highways – Mill Lane Junction

Following item 3, it was RESOLVED that the Clerk write to Mereshire County Council Highways requesting cutting back of vegetation at the Mill Lane/High Street junction on visibility grounds.

Community Speedwatch

The four volunteers had completed police-led training. It was agreed that sessions would begin in July, with data to be reported to the Council on a quarterly basis.

Planning

Members noted that a decision on 25/00589/HOU (4 Church Lane) was still awaited from Averbury District Council; the Council's response of no objection remained as previously resolved.
