Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the meeting held on 9 June 2026 were RESOLVED as a true record and signed.

Matters Arising

The village fete on the Green on 20 June had raised £810 for village hall funds, the best result yet; the Council recorded its thanks to the Fete Committee and all volunteers, noting the new roundabout had proved a popular attraction for younger visitors on the day. Averbury District Council had confirmed formal designation of the Thornwick St Mary neighbourhood area; the steering group would now begin gathering evidence, with a resident survey planned for early autumn.

Churchyard Capacity

An initial meeting had been held with representatives of St Mary's PCC to discuss the churchyard's limited remaining capacity. Options being explored included a small extension onto adjoining glebe land; a further update would be brought to a future meeting once initial feasibility had been considered.

Community Speedwatch

Quarterly figures showed a further decline in reported speeding offences on High Street. Given the volunteers' capacity, it was RESOLVED to extend the scheme to include occasional sessions on Church Lane, where a smaller but similar concern had previously been raised.

Mobile Signal – Netherfield Road

The network operator's revised timetable now indicated the mast upgrade was unlikely before the first quarter of 2027. It was RESOLVED that the Clerk write again pressing for an earlier date, copying in County Cllr Wetherby for support.

Planning

No new applications had been received.
